Kristy Swanson, who starred in the movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer recently went on Twitter to speak against “cancel culture” and defend Donald Trump. Twitter users subsequently came at her.
Controversy About Trump’s Cameo
Swanson became a household name after she played the lead role in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie. She played smaller roles in a few other movies such as John Hughes classics Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Pretty in Pink before she attained stardom. Hughes is also the writer and producer of Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.
The latter movie has become a subject of controversy after Trump played a cameo role in the much beloved holiday drama. Following Trump’s second impeachment, for inciting mob violence, several fans of Home Alone 2 have called for him to be removed digitally from the film. Macaulay Culkin, the star of both movies has been one of the most vocal, even tweeting “Bravo” in response to an edited clip where Trump had been replaced with a mute warped figure.
In Support of My President
Kristy Swanson leaped to the defense of the president, though, suggesting that she should also be removed officially from Pretty in Pink and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off to protest cancel culture. However, Twitter users, including celebrities, were quick to get on her back. Jane Lynch’s reply: “I’m sorry. Who are you?” was a pretty savage reminder of Swanson’s lack of recent and relevant film roles. Yvette Nicole Brown also responded, “You were in those films?”
If Swanson is willing to give up her roles in those films for Donald Trump, she probably is not too enamored with them. However, the most likely outcome is neither she nor Donald Trump will be edited out of the movies. Her tweet then is more about showing support for “MY PRESIDENT” Trump.
